Highway 67 Project Update
Village of Fontana Director of Public Works Craig Workman provided the following update on the Highway 67 construction project at the June 5, 2006 meeting of the Village Board.
Workman stated that steady progress is being made on the utility and grading work, and the storm sewer construction is just about complete in the Phase I area.
During the previous week village crews had to address several water main issues, and the construction crews have run into numerous utility line conflicts. Despite having crews work six days a week, Mann Brothers has applied to the Wisconsin DOT for an eight-day extension to complete Phase I of the contract. Workman stated that Mann Brothers still is working to meet the June 30, 2006 deadline.
Lane Closures
The highway will be CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC between the south side of the Kinzie Avenue intersection and north side of the Fontana Boulevard intersection from approximately Wednesday June, 21, 2006 through Friday June 30, 2006. This closure will be necessary to allow concrete being poured in several intersections to cure.
Although the highway will be closed between the above mentioned intersections, traffic will be allowed to access the highway at Kinzie Avenue and at Fontana Boulevard in order to avoid the North Lakeshore Drive detour route.
