Fire-Bear workshop

THE FONTANA Public Library Youth Program featured a Fire-Bear Workshop on October 8. The event was held in conjunction with Fire Prevention week. Participants made 13-inch bears that included firefighters outfits. Some of the participants were (from left) Jimmy and Naomi Kirchschlager, and Jackson and Brandee Brown.

Village of Fontana Park and Plan Commissioner Sharon O'Brien led the group of participants in the Fontana Fen Walk event July 7, 2009.

The participants in the Fontana Fen nature walk enjoyed refreshments at the St. Benedict Catholic Church pavilion following the event on Tuesday, July 7, 2009.

Library Holds Poetry Month Contest

In conjunction with National Poetry Month in April, 2009, the library conducted "Become something in Nature" poetry and drawing contest.

The contest was open to anyone 6 years and older. To encourage involvement from younger children, the library staff invited them to draw a picture. We had participation from the 4K-1 grade and 3-5 grade classes, as well as 5 adult entries.

All the entries can be viewed in the library.

The winners are:
