The Park Commission accepted a $2,000 check from Joe Abell and Andy Pearce from the Big Foot Lions Club. Abell and Pearce submitted the application for the 2018 Lobster Boil and Steak Fry scheduled for July 28, 2018.

THE FONTANA VILLAGE BOARD presented Certificates of Appreciation at its monthly meeting held Monday, June 3, 2013 to the Police Department (lower left), Fire Department (upper left) and Rescue Squad (lower right) for their heroic efforts assisting a woman to safely exit a fully engulfed residence from the upper level balcony during a severe house fire on South Lakeshore Drive in the Village of Fontana on May 6th, 2013. In spite of the life-threatening situation, the volunteers assisted the woman to escape the fire, and assisted the firefighters in battling and containing a very difficult fire in the residential neighborhood.

Park Commission member Sharon O’Brien submitted her resignation and attended her last meeting Wednesday evening, August 15, 2012.

The Park Commission reluctantly accepted O’Brien’s resignation and thanked her for her 10 years and nine months of service. Sharon O’Brien was appointed to the Park Commission in November 2001 to fill an open position.

A group of Big Foot High School students were in the Village of Fontana today picking weeds and collecting debris in Reid Park and around the Boat Trailer Parking Lot as part of the “Big Foot Day of Service” program.

The students were under the supervision of teacher, Mrs. Sanders (back row, right).

The students are (not in order): Kyle Rambatt, Katie Pearce, Kristen Glade, Annie McGrail, Kaylee Frederick, Brittany Rambatt, Shelby Grinnell and Steven Schauf.

Gail Hibbard named Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.

Fontana Garden Club Past President Lynne Frost announced and accepted the award for Fontana Citizen of the Year on behalf of Gail Hibbard, who was out of town because of a previous commitment.  Gail is a current member of the Village of Fontana CDA and Park Commission, and is the current president of the Fontana Garden Club.

The Village of Fontana received its official Bird City Wisconsin road signs and flag at the Village’s inaugural International Migratory Bird Day observance held in conjunction with the annual Arbor Day Program at Fontana Elementary School Friday, April 27, 2012. The DPW erected the signs on Highway 67 and the flag (at the Park House) today (Monday, April 30, 2012). The Arbor Day Program is part of the Tree City USA requirements and the Village has been a Tree City USA for 25 years (this year’s sticker has not been applied to the sign).

AND THE PLATINUM TOILET AWARD GOES TO DENNIS BARR. In recognition of 30-years of service to the Village, DPW Director, Craig Workman presented Fontana Water Departments Lead Man Dennis Barr with the Platinum Toilet Award. Craig also presented Dennis with a nice watch as well.


Village of Fontana Park Commission member Mary Green is helping to plant the Memorial Tree that honors her husband Daniel at an informal ceremony held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Duck Pond Recreation Area Pavilion. Former Park Commissioner and volunteer firefighter Daniel Green died September 12, 2011, when he was struck by a truck while working in Elmhurst, IL. Daniel Green was a former member of the Village of Fontana Fire Department and had been a Fontana Park Commission member since September 2007. He was instrumental in initiating and planning the Park Commission’s annual Pig in the Park fund-raising event that benefits the Little Foot Playground in Reid Park.

There are now three Memorial Trees planted adjacent to the Duck Pond Pavilion: for Daniel Green, Chris Schwenn and Dennis Barr, Jr.

Fox and Branch children's entertainers

THE ANNUAL Summer Storywagon Program sponsored by the Lakeshores Library System featured a July 19, 2011 performance by Fox & Branch, Family Folk Music entertainers. The performance featured some songs that required audience participation.

CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION were presented to Emma Cunningham and Jack Slovick in recognition of their heroic efforts in performing a water rescue of an unconscious man at the Fontana Beach on July 3, 2011.

Gail Nichols Retires after 21 Years of Service

Local Boy Scout Daniel Freitag coordinated and participated in a volunteer group construction project to complete the Village of Fontana's Shabbona Path Project on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Freitag completed the work as his Eagle Badge Project.
