service to the Village, DPW Director, Craig Workman presented Fontana Water Departments Lead Man Dennis Barr with the Platinum Toilet Award. Craig also
presented Dennis with a nice watch as well. |

MEMORIAL TREE PLANTED IN HONOR OF DANIEL GREEN
Village of
Fontana Park Commission member Mary Green is helping to plant the Memorial Tree that honors her husband Daniel at an informal ceremony held
Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Duck Pond Recreation Area Pavilion. Former Park Commissioner and volunteer firefighter Daniel Green died
September 12, 2011, when he was struck by a truck while working in Elmhurst, IL. Daniel Green was a former member of the Village of Fontana Fire Department and
had been a Fontana Park Commission member since
September 2007. He was instrumental in initiating and planning the Park
Commission’s annual Pig in the Park fund-raising event that benefits the Little
Foot Playground in Reid Park.
There are now three Memorial Trees
planted adjacent to the Duck Pond Pavilion: for Daniel Green, Chris Schwenn and
Dennis Barr, Jr. |

CDA Chairman, during the Beach House dedication ceremony held at
Gordy’s Boat House on Monday, September 19, 2011. |

THE ANNUAL Summer Storywagon Program
sponsored by the Lakeshores Library System featured a July 19, 2011 performance
by Fox & Branch, Family Folk Music entertainers. The performance featured
some songs that required audience participation. |

CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION were presented to Emma Cunningham and Jack Slovick in recognition of their heroic
efforts in performing a water rescue of an unconscious man at the Fontana Beach
on July 3, 2011.

THE FONTANA GARDEN CLUB presented a check for $1,100 to the Village of Fontana Park Commission at its monthly meeting on July 20, 2011. The donation was made from part of the proceeds the club raised at its annual Memorial Day Weekend Garden Fair, held at Porter Court Plaza. Boy Scout Leads Volunteer Path Construction Project
Local Boy Scout Daniel Freitag coordinated and participated in a volunteer group construction project to complete the Village of Fontana's Shabbona Path Project on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Freitag completed the work as his Eagle Badge Project.
