VILLAGE BOARD APPROVES AFSCME CONTRACT

The Village of Fontana Board of Trustees approved a one-year contract with the AFSCME Department of Public Works union employees at a special meeting held Monday, January 30, 2012. VILLAGE BOARD APPROVES FINAL BORROWING RESOLUTION, WPPA CONTRACT

The Village of Fontana Board of Trustees approved motions at a special meeting held Monday, January 23, 2012 to adopt a Resolution authorizing and providing for the sale and issuance of $4,100,000 General Obligation Corporate Purpose Bonds, Series 2012A, and all related details, and to ratify a three-year contract renew with the WPPA Police Officers Union. VILLAGE BOARD POSTPONES ZONING CODE REWRITE HEARING

The Village of Fontana Board of Trustees approved a motion at its rescheduled monthly meeting held Monday, January 9, 2012 to postpone by one month the public hearing scheduled to present the rewritten Municipal Code Chapters 17 and 18 and the new Zoning Map so that an additional village staff meeting can be scheduled with the attorney representing the Geneva Lake Conservancy. The yearlong rewrite project, which has been subject to six public workshop meetings held between March and November 2011, was scheduled for completion following a February 27, 2012 public hearing; however, the Village Board voted to postpone the hearing and grant the Geneva Lake Conservancy request to schedule a special staff meeting for its attorney to present his concerns to the Village attorney and Village planner.

The Village Board also voted to approve a new sign at Fontana Family Chiropractic, 450 Mill Street, Suite 102, despite a recommendation from the Plan Commission to deny the request; received a report from Britt Isham on the deer bow hunting season in the Village; approved a request by the Abbey Resort to erect its outdoor event tent three weeks early in 2012; and approved the budgeted purchase of a new wheel loader for the Department of Public Works.

VILLAGE APPROVES TRIATHLONS, MORATORIUM EXTENSION

The Village of Fontana Board of Trustees provided initial approval for a triathlon to be held in the late spring and one to be held in the early fall, and approved a two-month extension on the ordinance that established a moratorium during the ongoing project to rewrite Chapters 17 and 18 of the Municipal Code at its regular monthly meeting held Monday, December 5, 2011. VILLAGE REVIEWS PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

The new Village of Fontana Pavement Management Program and the associated exhibits were presented by the village engineer for an initial review by the Village Board and Finance Committee at a joint 2012 budget workshop meeting held Thursday, October 13, 2011.

The Village Board and Finance Committee reviewed a Power-Point presentation and then directed the Public Works Committee to provide a recommendation three proposed spending levels for a five-year plan. The report includes a road exhibit that highlights the high-priority projects for 2012.

The Village Board also approved an amendment to the resolution that authorizes specific property owners to bow hunt during the 2011 deer hunting season, and a resolution that formally opposes the proposed Assembly Bill 260 at the special meeting. Minutes

Workshop Meeting September 26, 2011 for Chapter 18 Rewritten Draft

The second draft of the rewritten Chapter 18 of the Village of Fontana Municipal Code was discussed at a joint Village Board and Plan Commission workshop meeting Monday, September 26, 2011. Minutes

Village Planner Mike Slavney issued an update memorandum dated September 21, 2011 with the second draft.

A rewrite project update memorandum dated August 19, 2011 also was issued by Slavney.

VILLAGE BOARD APPROVES DEER HUNTING RESOLUTION AMENDMENT

An amendment to the approved resolution to authorize deer bow hunting on certain Village properties to prohibit hunting at the Duck Pond Recreation Area until after the fall youth soccer season was approved by the Fontana Board of Trustees at the reconvened monthly meeting held Wednesday, September 14, 2011. VILLAGE BOARD APPROVES DEER HUNTING IN VILLAGE

In an attempt to cull the large herd of deer in the Village of Fontana, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution at its monthly meeting Monday, September 12, 2011 to authorize deer bow hunting on certain village properties during the DNR's hunting season, with no weekend hunting permitted. The last time the Village Board approved a resolution to allow hunting in the Village was in the fall of 2006.

The Village Board also approved ordinance amendments establishing a no parking zone on Shabbona Drive and codifying the existing mooring inventory in the Village's designated mooring area at the monthly meeting. Minutes

VILLAGE BOARD APPROVES AUDIT REPORT, NEW BUILDING INSPECTION FEES

The Village of Fontana Board of Trustees held a special joint session meeting Monday, August 1, 2011 with the Finance Committee to hear the 2010 Audit report and a proposal from its financial advisor to bond for road reconstruction and utility projects.

The Village Board also approved two ordinances and the final plans for an international antique boat show September 20 to 25, 2011 at the Abbey Resort and Harbor at its regular monthly meeting.

The ordinance approved were to create Rapid Entry System Requirements that will go into effect June 1, 2012; and to establish new $50 building inspection fees for patio and driveway construction projects and for road excavations.
